La Clave is back!

Hola amigos and welcome!

La Clave Fest 2017 – a festival celebrating the Latin community in London – is back on Saturday June 17. Latino Life is incredibly excited to be hosting another colourful and inclusive community event in the heart of Crouch End in north London.

With the backing of the London Mayor and some exciting collaborations, this summer festival will be bigger and better than last year’s – and almost all the events are free.

So who are we? Latino Life is the UK’s leading Latin media and events company, with an arts and culture website and magazine. We also host the Latin UK Awards, better known as The LUKAS. This annual event rewards and celebrates the UK’s finest Latino talent, from music and dance through to the arts, as voted by the public and expert judges.

Our ambition was to showcase this talent to the wider public in one place – and that’s how La Clave was born. This year’s festival spans music, food, film, dance, sports and more, all with a Latin twist. Highlights include Colombian ballet star Fernando Montano, a soloist with the Royal Ballet, performing his own original dance called ‘foot-ba’. The choreography is based on the moves of footballers and will have its debut at La Clave.

Since no Latin party would be complete without some tango, a renowned tango teacher in the UK will lead participants in a fun group dance, with the chance to take part in smaller workshops inside Hornsey Town Hall.

There will also be a huge range of music on the main stage from noon until 10pm, including salsa, rumba, samba, reggaetón and a performance from Luzmira Zerpa, the founder of Familia Atlantica and one of the most celebrated Venezuelan artists

working in the UK today. And don’t miss LUKAS winners Congolese-Argentine Juanita Euka and the exuberant African salsa outfit Grupo Lokito. For those with extra staying power, there will be an after-party in the Town Hall’s amazing art-deco theatre, where a wooden floor beckons salsa dancers and anyone who loves Latin music.

We can also announce an exclusive fine-dining experience running for three

consecutive days in the Hornsey Town Hall. Esnayder Cuartas, London’s pioneering Latin fusion chef and the entrepreneur behind Sabor, will be cooking a special menu on Friday and Saturday night, with a brunch option on Sunday. There will be drinks, music and an atmosphere guaranteed to transport you to Havana, even if we can’t guarantee the tropical weather. This will be a ticketed event, but you can get more information here.

This is just the beginning – we will keep you informed through this blog with more news and the countdown to the festival on June 17.

You are the most important part of this festival, so if you have any questions or comments, we'd love to hear from you.
